NASSAU, The Bahamas – RF Bank & Trust reaffirmed its commitment to community sport as Vice President & Group Head of Business Development David Van Onselen joined fellow sponsors in celebrating Team Baha Mar’s victory at the 2026 Nassau Cup.

The three-weekend tournament, hosted at the John McEnroe Tennis Centre at Baha Mar Resort, drew a record seven teams and showcased spirited competition that united seasoned coaches, university athletes, and accomplished club players from across New Providence.

Now in its second year, the Nassau Cup returned in grand style with three new teams joining the roster. The event was made possible through the support of key partners including RF Bank & Trust, McKinney Bancroft & Hughes, Bahamas Sotheby’s, CBL, Sign Island, Heineken, and Titan Hospitality.

After six rounds of play, Team Baha Mar captured the Nassau Cup with 12.5 wins, edging out Cable Beach in second place with 12 wins, and Waterloo in third with 10.5 wins.

Lead organiser Alexander Murbach highlighted the tournament’s unique role in Nassau’s sporting landscape:

“There aren’t enough tennis events in Nassau. For juniors you have a few, but there’s also a lot of demand among young adults and more mature players who are similarly keen to engage in high-quality competitive play. Tennis is a sport you can practise well into old age, and so we’re delighted by the healthy turnout of players, of all ages, from all across the island of New Providence.”

At the closing awards ceremony, Murbach underscored the crucial role of partners like RF Bank & Trust in bringing the tournament to life.

“The Cup is made possible by our motivated sponsors; we would not be able to put on this event without them. We’re grateful to RF Bank & Trust for supporting this best team tennis event in New Providence.”

RF VP & Group Head of Business Development David Van Onselen, whose sons participated in the tournament, commended the organisers and reinforced RF’s vision for community engagement:

“It’s been a fantastic time. We at RF are committed to being involved in sport for the betterment of our community. It’s a real priority for us, as today demonstrates, and it truly has been a pleasure partnering with Alex to put on the Nassau Cup.”
