(Nassau, The Bahamas) RF Bank & Trust (RF) hosted its fifth annual Human Resources (HR) Leadership Forum earlier this month at the Baha Mar Convention Centre, bringing together over fifty senior industry executives under the theme, “HR as a Strategic Partner: Navigating Change Management.” Held in partnership with the Bahamas Society for Human Resource Management and hosted by Valdez Russell, the half-day symposium examined how emerging technologies, demographic shifts, and economic shocks are reshaping organizations and the talent that drives them.
One message echoed across every session: HR is not a bystander to change, but a strategic partner in it. No matter the size or scale of a transition, HR must be positioned to bring insight to the table when it matters most.
That message played out concretely through the day’s speakers.
Executive Vice President of Cable Bahamas Group Franklyn Butler opened with a fireside chat, “From TV to
Telecom: Navigating Change in Major Enterprise,” tracing Cable Bahamas’ evolution from a foreign backed
start-up to a fully Bahamian-owned public company. He pointed to the deliberate separation of Aliv’s
culture and leadership from Cable Bahamas as what let a challenger brand move fast, and offered a
broader principle for the room: sustainable change comes from balancing speed with cohesion, disruption
with shared governance.
RF Regional Manager of Group Pensions Christina Sands then offered a perspective that reframed how the
audience might think about workforce planning altogether: unlike most people movement, which HR can
rarely predict, on time retirement is one of the few reliable, scheduled events in the talent pipeline. That
predictability is what turns retirement planning into a genuine succession strategy, giving emerging
leaders a visible, plannable path forward instead of an indefinite wait.
The forum closed with a multi-faceted panel on future-proofing workforces, featuring RF Vice President
and Chief HR Officer Shervanna Deleveaux, Myers Group Director of HR Nina Maynard, and Atlantis Senior
VP of HR Tameka Forbes. Moderated by Lyford Cay Club Director of HR Lashanta Smith, the interactive
session tackled succession strategies and productivity preservation in an era defined by rapid change.
“We were pleased to convene another engaging HR Leadership Forum focused on the critical issues
shaping the future of work, including leadership succession, talent development, and workforce
resilience,” said Ms. Deleveaux. “At RF, we are committed to leading meaningful dialogue and sharing
practical insights that strengthen organizations, and we look forward to seeing these conversations
translate into lasting impact across our communities.”
The 2026 HR Leadership Forum marks another premier symposium organized by RF Bank & Trust to spark
industry-changing ideas, empower professionals, and catalyze sustainable development across the
Caribbean.
