RF, previously Royal Fidelity, has launched its annual teacher recognition program for the 8th year, the RF National Distinguished Teachers’ Awards (NDTA) . Noting that appreciation for teachers has increased significantly this year due to virtual learning, the investment bank encourages parents and students to show their gratitude in a more tangible way.
“RF has again pledged to support education and the youth in Barbados,” noted Lamar Goring, RF Brokerage Manager. “As a regional organization we have always seen the importance of contributing to the development of the communities we work in and supporting outstanding educators is directly aligned with that. I encourage everyone to get involved this year and let their teachers know they are appreciated.”
Students and parents will once again be able to nominate a teacher to win monetary prizes along with the esteemed title, “RF National Distinguished Teacher, 2020”. As nominators, they will automatically be entered to win part of $900 in weekly and grand prizes. In addition to this, the school with the most nominators will also be awarded $2,000. There are a total of $20,000 in prizes being awarded.
“This year has been a challenging one for most and teachers are certainly no exception,” commented Rachael Allahar, RF Group Marketing Manager. “There has been an outpouring of appreciation for what teachers do in the classroom as many parents had the impossible task of trying to juggle their child’s virtual schooling while also working and keeping a household. Everyone deserves recognition this year and as such we believe it’s important to offer prizes to teachers, students, parents and schools.”
A ‘Blue Ribbon Judging Panel’ comprised of former educators will choose the ten (10) teachers who exemplify excellence. The teachers selected will be awarded a $1,500 cash prize. The public will then have a chance to vote for their favorite teacher via RF’s Facebook page. The top teacher will be awarded “People’s Choice Teacher 2020”. Nominated teachers must be employed as full time teachers with a minimum of five years teaching experience as of November 1, 2020.
The awardees will be selected from both public and private schools across Barbados as follows: two (2) Nursery School Teachers, three (3) Primary School Teachers, two (2) Secondary School Teachers, one (1) Sixth Form Teacher, one (1) Special Needs Teacher and one (1) Tertiary Teacher from Barbados Community College, Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic or Erdiston College.
The 2020 RF NDTA competition is being held in association with the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training and is powered by Be Social. Nominations are open until November 30, 2020 and can be completed at www.rfgroup.com/barbados/ndta/nomination-form/.
